I just wish that "Compiled once, run anywhere" is true.... just a wish :)
There won't be any patch for different OSes...
No more testing on different platforms...
No more pains...
No more headaches...

There's another slightly different thing : "Write once, run everywhere" and it really works...... long live PERL.... :)) (as long as you don't invoke OS specific modules or commands, of course :p)
yes, if you're willing to use more of your time to learn PERL (if you're a Java developer).
However, I find that writing in PERL isn't more exciting than writing in Java (I've read about PERL long long time ago).
